Bill passed away peacefully at home with family on Friday 19 September 2025.
Dearly loved husband of Margaret.
Devoted Father & Father-in-Law of Fiona & Ian Lambell, and Rob & Jo.
Loving Grandfather of Will & Mil, Ellie & Toby, Emma & Ross,
Thomas & Heidi, and Lachlan.
Great Grandfather of Henry and Peggy.
Loving brother of Ian (Dec’d) and Enid (Dec’d).

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Bill’s life to be held at Christ Church Cathedral, Duke Street Grafton on Friday 3 October 2025 commencing at 10am.

Dr.Bill Costello was a great man and a brilliant surgeon,he was respected by all that new him,he will be sadly missed.RIP Dr.Bill

I am sorry to hear of Bills’passing. Even as a boy I knew him as Dr Bill when he operated on my hand injury.In 1964 and prior to becoming a medical student in Sydney, I had the privilege of watching and assisting him operate at Grafton Base Hospital when I was home on Uni holidays.I don’t know if his patients knew just how talented he was, a general surgeon who could do almost anything.His ability and confident, respective manner left an indelible lesson for me. He had a wonderful reputation.Ten years on I became a surgeon and always remembered Bills’ valuable teachings. He was a surgeons’ surgeon.
