Kylie McPherson & Cheryl Walshsays:

Shirley was always ‘Aunty Shirley’ to me, as we were growing up. Although we were not blood related, being mum’s best friend, she was also close to my brother (Craig), and I. Although I don’t have a lot of specific memories, I remember her and mum always laughing about something or other. I remember Aunty Shirley in church, and her love for Jesus through those years. In life we tend to forget specifics about everyone we meet, but we always remember the way people made us feel, and Aunty Shirley made me feel loved, cared about, and as though she was ”looking out for me”, that’s a lovely legacy.

My brother, Craig, remembers lots of trips to the local swimming pool, and a lot of “just going for a drive”, with nowhere specific in mind. He also remembers Adrian and Steven’s horses, and riding them sometimes! He loved “Aunty Shirley”.

My mum, Cheryl Walsh, wanted me to write a few things on her behalf:-
“Shirley was my best friend for many years when she lived in Mt Druitt. We went through some tough times together. She watched my children grow-up. We just got along so well, and I missed her very much when she moved away, in fact I haven’t had a best friend since. We used to go to church together and home fellowships every week. Except for church and church outings, we didn’t go out a whole lot, just spent a lot of time at eachother’s houses, and the pools in Summer. I remember her love of her animals, her dogs, and that cockatoo with no feathers! ( I can’t remember his name, but I remember she could get him to dance!). Hearing that Shirley was actually gone, was heartwrenching, and I cried for a long time.”

We are all thinking very much of Lyn, Annette, Steven and the extended family. Our heart goes out to all.
Love from Cheryl, Kylie and Craig.
