I had the great good fortune to work with Dave at Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club in the late 1970s early 1980s, Dave was one of those people who come into your life and you feel better for having known them. A raw boned country boy who had come to the City to play football, he was funny, irreverent and great fun to be around for someone 7 years his junior.
We shared some very memorable days off at either the Hunters Hill Hotel or the Woolwich Pier Hotel along with a lot of other Ryde Eastwood staff who also enjoyed his company immensely.
Our lives took different courses and I never saw him again although we did reconnect by phone some years ago thanks to our mutual mate Alwyn Brunton.
I am forever grateful that I got to say my goodbyes to him only a few days before he died.
Rest in peace old Mate and deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to Elaine and the family
