Beautiful Mary: we met you at Wye College, Kent, UK 1976 in support of one “Derrin Davis from Dunneedoo”. Such a great couple & long time dear friends. Always positive and ‘can do’. You have been inspirational. RIP.
Wishing you great fortitude dear ‘Derro’.

Dear Darrin and all the family, it was with great sadness that I heard of Mary’s death. We first met at the CAE when Mary was the tutor to a course in which I was asked to be the Communications Lecturer. We then had many, many years in TAFE – and my memories are of a professional, skilled teacher and also a fun, lovely person. Mary was so easy to work with, always looking at the positive side of different situations (which sometimes were quite challenging!) , laughing and keeping a very healthy perspective on life.
I saw Mary when she received her diagnosis – and she was, once again, full of optimism and retained her beautiful smile. She mentioned the love and wonderful support she received from her family and said that was her strength.
I send much love to all and know you will keep her generous, loving personality with you always

A lovely woman who will be greatly missed. It has been a long time since I saw Mary, but to my mind she did indeed leave the world better for being here. My sincere condolences to Derrin, Amy, Penny and Michael and their families.

So sad to hear the news of Mary’s passing. I’m sorry I’m unable to attend her service. Condolences, sympathy and love to all the family. I know she has left some wonderful memories for us to cherish.

Alice Streetsays:

Rest in peace Mary. You were the best and most memorable coach I have had. You made the Rainbows the ever inclusive always welcoming place of joyful paddling. May you rest easy with your paddle going from the love of many Rainbows to the land of many Rainbows.
As we say in New Zealand.. ‘Kua hinga te tōtara i Te Waonui-a-Tāne. ‘ (The tōtara tree has fallen in Tāne’s great forest.). Much love Alice

David Noblesays:

I would like to offer my condolences to Mary’s family on this sad occasion. I started at Lismore High School in 1966 in the same class as Mary and we continued as classmates and friends for 6 years. Mary was School Captain in 1971 and I was Vice-Captain. During that time I found her to be a very principled person, kind, considerate and a lot of fun! We danced the night away once when I accompanied her to a ball! I am sure she will be peacefully at rest now after a very fulfilled life.

Thank you Mary for your love, support and guidance given to us as Rainbow Dragons. Our retirement is all the richer because of you. We will always remember your technique guidance, given with love and to protect us from injuries. We will NEVER sit on our lounge chairs in the boat, and we will keep those neurons firing in your honour. Forward up forward up! With love, Pete and Suzanne 🌈🌈💔💔. And thank you to the family for ‘loaning her’ to us!
