It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Graeme James Gallagher, affectionately known as “Golly”, on Saturday, 12th July 2025, aged 65.

A lifelong resident of Eureka, Golly was a much-loved member of the community a good mate to many, a helping hand to all, and someone whose kindness touched countless lives.

Golly was married to Fran for 30 years and was the beloved father of Michael & Nikki and Scott & Melissa. He was a great father-in-law, a cherished Poppy to his grandchildren, and to many more, simply Uncle Golly a title he wore with pride and warmth.

For decades, Golly worked as a truck driver a familiar and friendly sight around Clunes and Eureka, especially behind the wheel of the Gray Plantations International ACCO, which he proudly declared was “the best truck I never owned.”

He had a deep love for music with AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Guns N’ Roses and Queen to name a few always blasting from his radio. Whether it was playing the bass or air guitar, singing along, or just turning it up loud, Golly’s passion for rock never faded.

He was also known for his love of machinery happily reading manuals cover to cover just to understand how things worked.

And of course, Golly loved a beer or two even if it was warm. It was never about the temperature, but about the company and the moment.

Above all, Golly was someone you could talk to for hours about trucks, music, life, or nothing in particular. He always had time, a story to share, or a laugh to give.

Golly’s legacy of love, humour, generosity, and rock ’n’ roll spirit will live on through all who had the privilege of knowing him.
