Lindsay,
I am sorry I cannot make it to your funeral.
Even though it was only once or twice a year I saw you you always left timeless wisdom and invaluable lessons in my head which I still think about every day
You also came to my aid in a time of personal need and stress and I am sorry that I was never able to repay this gracious favour back for you
I will forever respect & appreciate your fatherly wisdom imparted on me and the care you showed for me
Yours sincerely,
Miki Giampaolo
Trevor has vivid memories of bushwalking and skiing trips with Lindsay. He had a happy knack of making every trip a fun one no matter how hard the going got. We will remember him with fondness for a long time. He was one of life’s gentlemen. You can’t ask for more than that.
We were friends for a very long time before and after his time as a Scout Leaders together when Geoff came into Scouts. The relationship went a long way beyond the weekly Scout meeting (his Scout name was Bogong after the Bogong moths of the high country which we both loved). There were many trips after his time in Scouts and it is the ski trips that stand out and some of the sayings he made when we went through some tough times. Two I remember well: that’s a fine mess you’vre got us into (crossing the main range in a full blown blizzard) and nevver let the facts get in the way of a good story (heard many times).
I appreciated his strong Christian faith, his sense of humour and his willingness to go out of the way to help. A kind and caring person.
Grateful to have known Lindsay and his beautiful family as a part of NationsHeart Christian Community in Canberra for many years. A warm, generous and welcoming man. A life well lived that sowed into the lives of many. Sending our love and prayers to the whole family at this time of loss – and holding the hope as you all do that we will meet again. Blessings, Naomi (NationsHeart Christian Community)
Lindsay’s friendship, compassionate nature and genuine interest in all who he met is something that I appreciated and will always remember. I enjoyed several walking trips with him where he would often produce a nice bottle of red to savoir with dinner. His love of and pride in his family was evident whenever he talked about them.
What a beautiful service, was able to take part online for which I’m grateful.
Met Lindsay in 2018 on my first (and hopefully not last) Camino – me as a clueless pilgrim – not sure how many he had done by then, sounded like a few.
He was kind, encouraging and interested in everyone.
Was a privilege and honour to have known him.
How lovely to have been able to hear more about him, his life and more importantly, his wonderful family.
Rest in peace Lindsay.
