Vanden Helbysays:

A gentle man in every sense. Always had a story to tell and a kind word to finish on. You will be missed. As a boy I looked up to you as a young man I enjoyed a meal and as I matured a good beer. To you uncle Vernon…cheers

Annelie & Stuartsays:

To a kind, caring, gentle man, who was a large part of the community where ever he lived, always there to lend a helping hand. A member of Rotary for many years, 30 years community service as well as great neighbour where ever he lived, volunteering with TAD 15 years, working in the Agriculture centre at Woolongbar very many happy years.
His life stories were many & varied and he never ran out, he cared for aunty Marion for many years as the crippling Osteoporosis took its toll,
the love of his dogs, and animals was a large part of his life as a shepherd in Wales. He gave much of himself while still being a private man, remained positive & caring to the end of his life, he has been part of our life for so many years it is hard to realise that he has closed this chapter and is now home with all those who loved him & he loved.
thank you for your love & kindness through the years

Goodbye Uncle Vernon, we will all miss you greatly, one of life’s great raconteur’s. Reunited with Aunty Marion, Mum and the rest of our family. A true gentleman with a huge capacity for kindness. Always considerate of others. You managed to be a great Uncle to Rhys, and even a great great Uncle to Alvar. Finally your wish has come true. Much love always.

Jenevieve(Helby) Kodsysays:

Great Uncle Vernon,
Thank you for being my Great Uncle.
As well as a Great Great Uncle to my children
The letters that we shared when I was a child will remain part of my fondest memories. Then for you to continue the tradition with my children absolutely warms my heart.
Since I can remember we always had things to discuss from ballet, to Scouts, to Cars, or the lead foot you seemed to share with our Nonni. Guaranteed you could always give me a giggle.
It was a privilege to share a meal with you whether it be in our homes, or a quirky cafe.
Thank you for the yarns, the jokes, the stories of our family.
This will be treasured always.
Indeed, you are the final part of our an admired generation. But my beautiful Great Aunts and you have taught me so much that I am grateful for and hope to be 1/10 of.
Rest in peace
