I am sorry to hear of Bills’passing. Even as a boy I knew him as Dr Bill when he operated on my hand injury. In 1964 and prior to becoming a medical student in Sydney, I had the privilege of watching and assisting him operate at Grafton Base Hospital when I was home on Uni holidays.I don’t know if his patients knew just how talented he was, a general surgeon who could do almost anything. His ability and confident, respective manner left an indelible lesson for me. He had a wonderful reputation.Ten years on I became a surgeon and always remembered Bills’ valuable teachings. He was a surgeons’ surgeon.
